The companies contract varied technical services to
independent consultants on an “ongoing” basis. Regular farm visits are
conducted and all aspects of health, production and environmental are reviewed.
Animal health is continually monitored by Dr. Chris Misutka and Dr. Egan
Brockhoff.
Animal nutrition services are provided by Gowans
Feed Consulting, who likewise visits the farms on a regular basis and monitor
performance and design rations accordingly. All feed is manufactured by
Viterra in Olds and Sherwood Park.
Manure application rates on owned and contracted
farm lands are arrived at in consultation with various soil and crop experts
who consider soil conditions and crop uptake expectations to determine manure
requirements in balance with inorganic nitrogen, phosphorus, and trace
minerals.
